The rain plan for the Mr. Smedley unveiling

In the event of rain, the free public picnic will be moved indoors.

The Mr. Smedley unveiling and free community picnic is today! Unfortunately, it looks like Mother Nature may have other plans.

Luckily, the Union Hill Civic Association has a contingency plan just in case. From their email:

The “Rain Plan” is for us to have an in-door picnic at the Headquarters of the Tricycle Garden at the corner of 24th and Jefferson Ave. The unveiling of Mr. Smedley will still be in Jefferson Park at 7:30 (with umbrellas, if necessary) unless the Art Commission deems it unsafe.

And fear not! The Richmond-based band The Blue and the Gray will still be providing music, and Alamo BBQ will still be providing delicious food.

As of this writing, there has been no weather-related update on the status of Mr. Smedley’s unveiling by the Public Art Commission.
