Richmond hot spot, Balliceaux, located at 203 N. Lombardy St. was recently named one of the top places for southern-inspired cooking in Food & Wine magazine and will be featured in the September 2010 issue.
F&W Restaurant Editor, Kate Krader, and F&W Associate Editor, Kristin Donnelly, shared their favorite picks from across the nation in a list that served up more than the a-typical collard greens or grits.
Krader and Donnelly commented on the local charm’s chic design and flavorful food, which add to the restaurant’s overall downtown Manhattan atmosphere.
“Chef Russell Cook covers a lot of ground on the menu, with dishes ranging from braised pork belly with charred onion slaw and tortillas to panko-crusted tofu with house-made kimchi. The nice surprise is that he does most of it so well,” Krader and Donnelly, F&W magazine.
One thing is certain, be it day or night, Balliceaux offers one-of-a-kind southern creations that have caught the eyes of more than just Richmond fans; and with a jam-packed list of events each month—this local gem is sure to continue dishing out top of the line entertainment and cuisine.
