Aw, memories. Annoying ones.

Guys! Remember? Door open [audio:http://rvanews.net/sounds/2009/IM/dooropen.mp3] Door slam [audio:http://rvanews.net/sounds/2009/IM/doorslam.mp3] IM sent [audio:http://rvanews.net/sounds/2009/IM/imsend.mp3] IM received [audio:http://rvanews.net/sounds/2009/IM/imrcv.mp3] It’s just like walking down the hall of my old dorm. Back before people understood “muting.”

Oh God I remember this. Both my college roommates did this with the sound full blast.

Do you *really* think people understand muting yet? It’s essentially confirmation bias — you happen to be surrounded by people who use Macbooks and iPhones now.

A previous roommate of mine still used the official AIM complete with all the sounds. Yes, in 2009. It’s not as crazy as you think. In fact, I bet there are ten times as many people still doing this and using Windows Media Player than there are Mac users. D:

  3. I walk down college dorm hallways pretty regularly, and I will tell you that the ever-present sound nowadays (at least in freshman male dorms) is video game shooting. Once I heard someone scream “STOP THROWING FUCKING BANANAS, LUIGI” though.

  7. I am currently a cingular user, and I just want to use surf the web when I have wi-fi, since my school has wifi covered everywhere. I do not want to get a touch because I have enough things in my pocket already. Also, I am part of a family plan so I do not think I can be the added line and still have the data package. So does anyone know how to unlock the iphone so I can not use the data plan?
