We are getting close to that time where we begin to roll up our sleeves and make change!! All we need is you; your hands, your inspiration, and your ideas. This initiative is going to be completely community driven and community led.

We have spent the last few months doing outreach, canvassing, conducting interviews, planning events, community visions, and our latest series of design days. We have had the opportunity to share our ideas based on what we heard from the interviews, outreach, and our visioning days. The design days were such a wonderful opportunity to reflect back to the community some of the things that we have been hearing in terms of expressed needs. We have listened, and reported back, invited the community into every phase of the process in order to hold each other accountable, and to keep us on the right track. This plan needs to include the voices of everyone, and we are continuing to look for more and more people from the community willing to carry the torch, and who have the fire of community in their hearts. This process has been so exciting, educational, and dynamic, but it is far from over. In fact, it is only now beginning.

We are heading into the phase where we increasingly need more people to be a part of the new chapter in the legacy of Greater Fulton. What part will you play? Continue to look for opportunities to get involved, because this initiative will only be what it can be if people step forward to say, “I will”. The final draft of the community plan is in the process of being written as we speak. The facilitators, consultants, and organizers are preparing for the unveiling of the plan at the community celebration on the week of Dec. 16th. More information is coming, and we do hope you will be there. In the meantime, we will be setting up a committee structure, action groups, and teams to begin phase one. Meetings will be happening, and they will be announced on this sight, and we hope that all will step forward to lend a hand.

This will prove to be a pivotal time, so if you want to be involved, if you are willing to create a community that works for everyone, please get on board. Every little bit helps. Feel free to call me at my office at (804)864-5797. All are welcome, and there is no telling what can happen when we work together. Thanks to all who have canvassed, conducted outreach, talked to neighbors, volunteered, and done the good work thus far. This could not be what it is without you. I wish that I could mention all of your names, but they are far too numerous to count. It is a real reminder that we are all connected. I will work to keep everyone up to speed, so stay plugged in, and check the site for updates. Until next time, be well.
