VCU preps for the big bike race
No classes for four days in September.
By now everyone is aware of the 2015 UCI Road World Championships that will be hitting the streets of Richmond in September 19th – 27th. It will have a major impact on life in the city and now VCU is starting to release details on how they’ll be dealing with the race.
- Classes will not be held on the Monroe Park Campus from Sept. 21 through Sept. 25. Students in the Health Sciences schools (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Allied Health Professions) will need to check with their academic program contact as each schedule will be managed separately. Please be assured that academic integrity will not be compromised as adjustments to the calendar have been made to ensure sufficient teaching hours are maintained.
- All residence halls will remain open during this period so that students will have the option to stay on campus and participate in work or meaningful community service, education or event-related activities.
- There also will be an impact on employees as the university and the health system work to ensure continuity of operations. VCU will recognize liberal telecommuting for its employees during this time, while the VCU Health System will continue normal operations. VCU employees volunteering at the event may use their community service leave. Those employees with dual reporting roles will be encouraged to consult their managers to determine which operations protocol to follow.
