Baysox return for tattoo night, fireworks, and a good beating

In their first return after being swept out of the Diamond at the beginning of the month, the Bowie Baysox come to Richmond for a 4-game series over the holiday weekend. ALSO: Tattoo Night, Flying Squirrels soccer ball give-a-way, the Phillie Phanatic, and 2 nights of fireworks.

The Flying Squirrels are still looking to regain their previous momentum after a wobbly 3-4 homestand followed by a 3-4 road trip. In their only visit to Binghamton, the Squirrels played like 3 different teams in winning a close 3-2 game with the Mets (22-24) on Monday, getting shellacked 10-0 and 9-1 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then turning the tables winning 11-4 on Thursday.

Richmond (26-21) still holds second place in the Western Division, trailing the Altoona Curve (30-17) by 4 games. The Baysox (23-24) have taken advantage of the Erie SeaWolves’ (23-24) eight game losing streak to creep into 3rd place, 3 games behind the Squirrels.

Pitching for Richmond on Friday night, unbeaten Daryl Maday (7-0, 1.36) will be going for win number 8 for the season. Maday is tied for victories in the Eastern League with Altoona’s Jared Hughes, and is the only unbeaten pitcher with more than 4 wins.
