West End furniture rental company moving closer to its clientele

Cort Furniture’s clientele is largely within the city limits.

Cort Furniture, a West End furniture rental company backed by none other than Warren Buffet, is making a move to the Boulevard to be closer to its core clientele, Richmond BizSense reports.

The company, located at 7921 West Broad Street since 1980, is downsizing from a 26,000-square-foot showroom to one just under 12,000-square-feet at 1207 North Boulevard. The building, now vacant, once housed an auto parts retailer.

The business’s main customers are startups and other small businesses, college students, and the likes.

Said Cort general manager Mike Cline of the decision to move:

“We need to be closer to our customers,” he said. “We’re also finding that baby boomers are choosing to downsize and stay flexible. They like places like Scott’s Addition where they are transforming warehouses into apartments.”
