Richmond zoo set to open zip line obstacle course
The course will take participants 45 feet in the air and across 3,000 feet.
Workers at the Metro Richmond Zoo are putting the finishing touches on the Treetop Zoofari Zip Line and Adventure Park, an obstacle course that features jungle ropes, floating logs, tight wires, a Tarzan swing, zip lines, and more (see photos below). Zoo officials said the Treetop Zoofari should open in the next few weeks.
The course will take roughly two hours to complete and will carry participants 12-45 feet above ground into the forest canopy and parts of the zoo inaccessible by foot.
Included in the Treetop Zoofari are 15 zip lines that fling participants over 3,000 feet, allowing them to get a bird’s eye view of the zoo’s monkeys, apes, kangaroos, giraffes, and other animals. The zoo’s lake will feature a 600-foot zip line of its own. Riders must be at least 54” (4’5”) to access the Treetop Zoofari.
Younger riders and those wary of heights can access the Jungle Explorer course, a fourteen-challenge course that takes participants 5-12 feet above ground and includes one zip line.
The Metro Richmond Zoo is located at 8300 Beaver Bridge Road in Moseley, VA.
