Richmond Police investigating homicide on Westmoreland Street

A yet-to-be-identified man was found in his home stabbed by someone police believe is a person known to the victim.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating the city’s 18th homicide of 2016.

From Richmond Police:

At approximately 2:11 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Westmoreland Street for the report of a person down.

Officers arrived and found a male in a residence who had suffered from an apparent stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives believe the incident stemmed from an argument with a known subject who then fled the house. At approximately 5 a.m. the male suspect returned to the scene and surrendered to officers. More information will be released when it is available.
