Police chase ends in crash

Late afternoon drama near Carver and North 19th.

A simple traffic violation stop turned into a chase, damaged car, damaged police car, and an arrest

A man refused to stop for a traffic violation in Richmond on Wednesday afternoon, leading a police officer on a car chase in which the suspect drove into a guardrail, according to Richmond police Capt. Yvonne Crowder.

Crowder said a police cruiser was also damaged during the incident, but no injuries were reported.

Crowder said the driver attempted to flee on foot after crashing the car about 4 p.m. near Carver and North 19th streets, but he was quickly caught and arrested.

The suspect, Vonjae Bugg, 20, was charged with attempting to elude police.
