Kanawha Plaza starts its makeover
Work begins on the ignored park.
Work has started but there was this article in the RTD over the weekend that points out that there are still a few major issues to work out.
In their haste to remake the downtown eyesore before Richmond is thrust into the international spotlight, city officials commenced the roughly $6 million donor-subsidized project before securing enough contributions to cover the costs.
But as Dwight Snead Construction Co. drills down on the 2.8-acre urban park above the Downtown Expressway, officials say they are working to court corporate backers — many of which have offices adjacent to the plaza.
