Don’t freak out, instead meet Our Friends the Snake

Snakes are a valuable part of our eco-system and the more we know the less scary they become.

Our Friends the Snakes program will be at the Bryan Park Nature Center this Saturday, April 16th 10:30-noon. Rex Springston, former reporter for the Richmond Times-Dispatch will speak and show eye-popping slides followed by a fun safe snake hunt.

If you’d like to get a head start on your snake knowledge slither on over to the Virginia Herpetological Society and specifically the Snakes of Virginia. My favorite page is the Copperheads and the Harmless look-a-like Snakes. The Northern Water Snake looks amazingly close to a Copperhead. Any and all snakes have nothing to fear from me I have zero desire to either harm or touch a snake. I’ll just let them go about their business of eating pests.
