Coyotes confirmed in James River Park

Roadrunner was quoted as saying, “BEEP! BEEP!”

I’ve lived in Westover Hills for nearly 13 years. Nearly every year there are reports of coyotes spotted near the river. These claims have never been backed with photographic evidence. Today that has changed with this post from James River Park.

Exciting news from the Science in the Park people: “COYOTES!
Wily indeed. Two years of game camera work finally confirm Canis latrans as a player in the park fauna. Size, leg length, and pelage say it is not a Red or Gray fox. Second wild canid species for the Park!

    I would think both red and gray foxes live in the park system, so wouldn’t that make coyotes the third canid species?
