Body found in river near Pony Pasture

James River season is not starting off on a good note.

From NBC12:

Richmond Fire Department confirmed a death investigation is now underway following the recovery of a body pulled from the James River Monday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to the Pony Pasture around 1:30 p.m. Monday for the report of body found floating in the river. Crews then pulled the body onto a small island.

The fire department then notified Richmond Police, and that agency has now taken over the investigation.

Fire crews had cleared the scene by about 3 p.m.

It’s also worth mentioning that Richmond Fire Department successfully rescued two girls that fell into the river near Belle Isle on Mother’s Day.
