GhanaFest kicks off on Friday

Celebrate Ghana while enjoying music and food.

GhanaFest Richmond is an annual cultural event founded by Miss Lois Yankah, a former Ghanaian resident that now lives in Richmond. It’s a celebrations of Ghana’s Independence and the amazing diversity of Ghanaian. There are music,dance, arts and craft, food, storytelling and various forms of entertainment in various spots around town.

Including:

  • GhanaFest RVA Opening Ceremony, Friday from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Altria Theater (6 North Laurel Street), Admission: $10 for children, $15 for adults
  • GhanaFest RVA Cultural Exhibition, Friday & Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Garden Hall  Maymont Park (1700 Hampton St.), Admission is Free Merchandise is for sale
  • GhanaFest RVA Food Festival and Cultural Exhibition, Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Libby Hill Park (2801 East Franklin St.) a possible alternative is being looked into in cause the weather takes a bad turn
