TIP! Wipe your hands on fewer trees

We’ve gotten so used to paper products that we’ve been convinced it is the Only Way, when really it’s just been that way for a couple of decades.

You’ve seen that TED talk from 2012 about only using one paper towel when washing your hands in the bathroom, right? It might be the TED talk that’s most impacted my life, and I’m not sure what that says about either my life or TED talks.

Terrible humans that we are, we use several billions pounds of paper towels each year. Using a single paper towel in a public bathroom certainly helps, but what if you wanted to take it to the next level while simultaneously taking it into your kitchen?

Buy a sack of bar towels (just $18 bucks for a baker’s dozen on Amazon Prime) or bar mops (just $21 for two dozen on Amazon Prime)–the former are more for your hand drying and produce drying needs, and the latter are more for your wiping up spills needs. You’ll never need to take up counter space with a roll of paper towels again! Plus there’s just something comforting about having an always-available stack of cloth towels ready for whatever awaits.

Also, using paper napkins is an insane thing that is easily corrected by spending money on cloth napkins one time.

Saving space, saving money, saving the environment, look at you, Mr. or Ms. Saver!
