RTD profiles Scott’s Addition
The city is growing in great ways.
There are two spots in the city that really have palpable growth, Manchester and Scott’s Addition. They both have several things in common, apartments are moving in, artists and craftsman are already there, and a few brave restaurants and other retail pioneers are settling in.
RTD takes a look at the growth in Scott’s Addition.
If the new Scott’s Addition has a spine, it’s Summit Avenue, home to Lamplighter Roasting Co.’s coffee roastery and café, Isley Brewing Co., Richmond Bicycle Studio and Health Warrior, a company that makes nutritional snack bars with an emphasis on chia.
Urban Farmhouse, the growing market and café operation that started in Shockoe Slip, plans to open its fourth location this summer at the corner of Summit and Norfolk Street. The market will be bigger than the others, with a patio, fireplaces and doors that open up to the street, according to owner Kathleen Robinson, who recently sent a banner over to be put up at the site.
Robinson said she decided on Scott’s Addition after hearing about other businesses moving there.
“I felt it fit our profile in terms of moving into areas where we could be an integral part of the community,” she said.
