This is one of those hidden places that almost nobody knows where it is, unless you’re a cemtery hound. It ain’t easy to find either.
Beautiful photo. Sadly, I have learned that the organisms on the face of this marble sculpture is lichen. Beautiful to look at and photograph, but they gradually destroy the “artwork” they enhance. They are a composite organisms consisting of a fungus (the mycobiont) and a photosynthetic partner (the photobiont or phycobiont) growing together in a symbiotic relationship. They eat away at rock and turn it to dust. http://www.lichen.com
