Not sure of the best way to get to the Richmond Folk Festival (or where to park once you get there)? Have no fear, we’ve got the details.

Transportation

The Folk Festival takes place between 2nd and 7th Streets and from Byrd Street down to the river — this includes Brown’s Island, including Brown’s Island, the Civil War Center at Tredegar, the lawn of the New Market Corporation, portions of Federal Reserve parking lots, and Tredegar Street. That’s a big chunk of space, all of which is off limits for cars throughout the event. (See a PDF of the Folk Festival map to get a better idea of what’s happening where.)

For those of you not trying to finagle a parking space (more on that below) or just not super familiar with driving around the city, you’ve got a few shuttling options.

SunTrust is providing free shuttle services to and from two remote parking lots: Spring Rock Green (formerly Beaufont Mall, across the street from Cloverleaf Mall, and located at 7202 Midlothian Turnpike) and the Diamond (3001 N. Boulevard). Shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes on Friday from 4:30pm to 10:30pm, on Saturday from 11:30am to 10:30pm, and Sunday from 11:30am to 6:30pm.

  1. CityParking’s Main & Foushee parking lot is $3 & a short walk from the 2nd St. entrance. It’s an honor box lot so bring $1 bills.

  2. Ooooh good tip — take note, everyone!

  4. The shuttle is a great alternative, especially for folks coming from Chesterfield (no tolls or parking cost) I have used it every year, and never had any problems!
