Next ‘Richmond Speaks’ event to be held Thursday evening at U of R

The ongoing discussion aims to engage the community in deciding what is to become of the Lumpkin’s Jail site in Shockoe Bottom.

From Richmond Speaks:

Richmond Speaks is a public conversation between Richmond residents, public officials, and especially young people and the Richmond Slave Trail Commission (STC) about the Lumpkin’s Jail site. What does the site mean to city residents and what should happen on the site in the future? These conversations will take place in locations throughout the city, here on the website, and on social media.

Richmond Speaks asks, how can the Lumpkin’s Jail Site help you to understand our city better? Educate our children? Provide jobs for residents? Jobs for university students?

Help us create a Lumpkin’s Jail Site that will serve you, your family, and your community.

The meeting takes place Thursday, December 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center located at 49 Crenshaw Way.
