Homicide in Woodland Heights

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred shortly after 9 o’clock last night in the Woodland Heights section of the city.

The victim, a white male in his 30s, was shot near the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and West 34th Street. The victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

Department detectives say the motive appears to be drug related. The shooter is described as a black male who escaped in an early-2000s model Ford Taurus, gold in color, driven by another black male.

Forensics detectives processed the scene and other detectives canvassed the area to speak to neighbors.
