Daylight homicide on North 21st Street

The RTD identifies this case as one of three homicides in the city over a two day period.

The Public Affairs Unit of the Richmond City Police Department released more information regarding a homicide that took place Tuesday evening in the East End.

From the email:

Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a homicide investigation in the East End and have identified the victim as Jay Q. Wood, 47, of the 3100 block of Zion Street.
At approximately 5:26 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 800 block of North 21st Street for a report of random gunfire. They arrived on scene within minutes and found Wood suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
According to CBS6, Mr. Wood was found in an alley between Venable and Carrington Streets.

    Unnerving as incidents like this are, I can’t help but wonder what they mean by “random”? Random shooting happens on the hill, I guess… but multiple gun shot wounds doesn’t sound “random” at all…
