Remember, parents! Kindergarten registration for Richmond-area is this Thursday, April 14th. While your family has kindergarten on the brain, be sure to head over to the Children Museum of Richmond’s Central location on Saturday for Kindergarten Kickoff 2016, a morning of educational activities to help prepare your little one for school.

Kids can spend the morning taking part in special activities designed to introduce them to the daily school routine, including:

  • Hanging up a backpack and coat
  • Participating in morning circle time
  • Getting on and off a school bus
  • Raising hands and taking turns
  • Lining up for dismissal

(I know. Just the thought of it is so cute I can hardly stand it.)

Kindergarten Kickoff will feature activity tables highlighting key kindergarten skills like number sense, phonological awareness, rhythm, fluency, and fine motor skills. Parents can also speak to educators and snag some take-home materials that will help keep the kindergarten-readiness-ball rolling between now and September.

Kindergarten Kickoff 2016 takes place on Saturday, April 16th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 at CMoR Central (2626 W. Broad Street) and is free with museum admission1.

  1. $9 for ages 1 to 59; $8 for seniors; free for members and kids under 1.
