Changes being considered for Stratford Hills retail area

A Starbucks drive-thru would probably be an instant success with morning commuters.

From the Southampton Citizen Association Facebook:

The Shops at Stratford Hills anchored by Martins and Target has the following news to report. Let us know what you think.

Goodwill is interested in building a new retail location to the east of Martins.

Starbucks is also asking for a drive-thru with a median break at the Joe Brooks entrance road to renew and remain in this location.

The center is experiencing business turnover, with several leases expiring and tenants vacating. Visibility is a key concern for retailers, as well as convenient access and parking. The developers are working on ways to modify the Community Unit Plan for this Shopping Center to retain current retailers and restaurants and to attract other business to the area. As the City decision process unfolds the City, and the SCA, are interested in the community’s input.

Yes, please! A Starbucks drive-thru would be great and save me the drive to Midlothian Turnpike when I have a sleeping little one in the car.

A drive thru for Starbucks and Bw3’s would be wonderful. A sports bar in the area would be nice other than driving to baileys

Some ideas we are throwing around on a neighborhood association page include adding more community spaces, outdoor market, small stage for children’s events (think Willow Lawn). We are a community of artists, musicians and families. Developers should consider employing a local neighborhood feel to their structures. The share the road bike signs are already in place in the entrances, add bike racks. With the completion next year of a new street design w sidewalks and bike lanes from powhite to stratford hills, more people can walk and bike to retail and venues including this mall. If it’s designed along with local retail that invite people to stay and relax it could benefit us.

I think that you should put a T.J. Maxx or Marshall’s in the strip mall on Forest Hill. I think it would be a good type of retail that would attract families looking for one stop shopping and offer a variety of things that would be good competition for a place like Target. I would either build it out of the Family Dollar Tree and make it bigger, or replace one of the other areas which is doing poorly. I know that I would shop at a discount retail like this, because although Target can be convenient, I am not a huge fan of their clothing and once something is gone, they never seem to restock. I also think that the Starbucks should move across the street to the restaurant that always fails (next to the daycare). The parking lot is so poorly designed that it makes entering it always very awkward.
