A flip for Tripps: Kickback Jack’s coming soon

Restaurant group converting former Tripp’s Restaurant to a sister dining concept.

A longtime West End chain restaurant is being transformed into a new concept by its North Carolina-based parent company. Tripps Restaurant at 9318 West Broad Street will be closed until August as it is converted into one of Battleground Restaurant Group’s sister restaurant concepts, Kickback Jack’s. The Richmond location will be the seventh for the smaller chain.

Tom Mincher, president of the Battleground, says sales have declined at Tripps’ West End location since 2008, when an influx of new restaurants began popping up nearby. The building has been partially demolished as part of the $2 million conversion. The location has been open since 1994.
