PHOTOS: Stilt-Walking at Dogtown

Going from tentative to striding along, extra tall. It is uplifting to watch—no pun intended.

Heaton Johnson came back from Dogtown Dance Theatre and let us know he’d done a photoessay of a stilt-walking class. There is something exhilarating about watching the progression of these students as they get more and more confident. Instructor Adam Dipert was in town from Raleigh doing a performance at Dogtown, and taught this class to willing students as well as Heather Bailey, Dogtown’s development director. Dipert told Heaton that his class is all about empowering his students, and that really shines through in these photos.

We thought of Dogtown Dance Theatre because we knew they are always up to something cool. You should probably check them out.
