New Works by Steve Hedberg
November 6th-28th
Opening Reception November 6th from 6-9PM
Glave Kocen Gallery 1620 West Main Street

Since his debut as a professional painter in 1999, Hedberg has moved through a continuum of styles while creating both realistic and abstract works. In Full Circle, he embraces them all. The paintings unveiled in this show present a culmination of the artist’s evolving expressions. He delves further into urban themes, which range from familiar Richmond scenes to fictitious cityscapes. These begin with Hedberg’s foundation in realism and then accumulate varied shapes, lines and textures to create the sense of space familiar in his landscape paintings. The circles and geometric shapes that have become common elements in his more recent works link together this series. Here, the artist seeks to push the boundaries of both representation and abstraction and to find balance between both.
