Free Kids Summer Film Series at Movieland

In the market for a fun (and free) way to kill time with the kids this summer? Movieland’s got you covered.

I’m a big fan of the whole “send your kids outside at sunrise and forbid re-entry into the house until the streetlights come on” approach to summertime parenting, but should you find yourself in need of an indoor activity, Movieland is at yer service.

For the seventh year in a row, Movieland is offering their Free Kids Summer Film Series, a nine-week event that gives kids and their parents, caregivers, what-have-yous the chance to catch some family-friendly films–FOR FREE. And you can bring your own snacks!

The series starts June 25th with films running every Tuesday and Wednesday through August 21st. Best of all, the schedule is pretty legit; nary a cartoon dinosaur in sight…

Please note that while many of these movies were shown in 3D at their original theatrical releases, the Kids Summer Film Series will only show the 2D versions.

All showings start at 10:00 AM, but the doors open at 9:00 AM. Seating is limited, and tickets are issued on a first come-first served basis. Translation: Get there early.

(And for those of you cool with dropping minimal cash, Regal’s Summer Movie Express begins at various locations around Richmond early next week. It’s pretty much the same deal, but tickets cost $1 each with a portion of the proceeds going to the Will Rogers Institute. Check out Regal’s schedule here.)
