At some point, the city launched a website for reporting priority issues such as potholes, overgrown lots, abandoned cars, non-functioning street lights, non-functioning traffic lights, trash/bulk pick-ups, and illegal dumping.

Murder on Jennie Scher

Responding to reports of shooting at around 2:30AM this morning, Richmond Police found Shamarl O. Whittaker, 22, shot to death inside an apartment in the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road. This is the 9th homicide in the East End in 2010 and Richmond’s 23rd this year.

Charges dropped against Harvin

The RTD is reporting that the murder charge against Andre Russell Harvin in the May 27th death Jameal Smith. Declaring it an act of self-defense and a justified killing, this lowers the total number of homicides in Richmond so far in 2010 to 19.

Williams arrested again in 2009 death

Ashley Williams has been arrested and charged with the June 2009 death of her toddler son on the 1900 Block of Newman Road. She was charged in 2009, but the charges were later suspended. More evidence has recently come light, however, and the charges have been refiled.

Thieves take cash, puppy

nbc12 has details on a break-in in the 1200 block of Garber Street: Police say someone stole cash and took off with the family’s newest member, a 6-week-old pit bull puppy. It happened in the 1200 block of Garber Street and when news of a stolen pup spread, it didn’t sit well with residents.
