The night was foggy and, as usual, Santa’s sleigh needed a glowing guide. But this time, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was no help at all – he had a cold. Add an errant asteroid to the mix, headed straight for the North Pole, and Christmas seemed doomed. This week students of Walnut Hill Elementary School in Petersburg pondered this problem as they performed Teresa Jennings’ play, “The Incredible Reindeer.”

WHES Santa

Jennings’ solution? The “Incredible Reindeer” – a herd of four legged superheroes who saved the day – or rather, the night, with their special powers, including a “bionic power beam.”

WHES third, fourth and fifth grade students put on the holiday performance, including holiday songs and even a kazoo spiel, first for their classmates, then again for the WHES PTA in the evening. It is an annual tradition at the school.
