Richmond Police report the following significant arrests in Northside during the month of November:

  • When Officer Brady McWhirter of Evening Shift responded to a call of a suspicious odor coming from an apartment on Hermitage Road, he recognized the distinctive smell of marijuana burning. His response and teamwork by other officers on the shift resulted in a search warrant, a significant amount of marijuana, a firearm and over $24,000 in cash.
  • An alert citizen called police when he saw an individual acting suspiciously on Hawthorne Avenue. He also noticed his garage was open. Quick response and teamwork by day shift officers and detectives resulted in the location of a suspect and an arrest for burglary.
  • While on patrol in the 800 block of West Lancaster Road, Officers Raines and Persigan of the 4th Precinct F.M.T. Unit observed an individual walking quickly away and acting suspiciously. Good police work led to an arrest for carrying a concealed handgun.
  • When Officer Brady McWhirter of Evening Shift initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Cummings Drive, he became suspicious when the driver couldn’t seem to remember her name. Persistent questioning resulted in an arrest for possession of cocaine.
