Richmond Police Department’s Fourth Precinct is moving from its cramped quarters at 107 S. Fifth Street to a spacious facility at 2219 Chamberlayne Avenue. The Police Department’s Special Investigations Division will also locate there. The project completion date is December 2008…

…With the City’s transition to sector-based policing in 2006, Fourth Precinct’s staffing grew 22 percent. In addition, 19 vehicles were added to Fourth Precinct’s fleet. This growth prompted the need for a larger and more centrally located facility.

The new home for Fourth precinct and Special Investigations was a large vacant building in an area of Northside in need of revitalization.
