Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will hold a series of public meetings to give citizens the opportunity to provide input into the Department’s Draft Master Plan.

The Department began working on a Master Plan in April 2007 to guide it through the next 10 years. A draft of the plan has now been completed based on information collected from an assessment of the Department’s parks, facilities and services, focus group meetings, and a statistically valid survey of Richmond households. As a final step before presenting the plan to City Council for adoption, the Department wants to provide citizens with the opportunity to review the draft and provide comments and additional input.

To complete this citizens’ review, the Department has scheduled the following public meetings for citizens to attend:

Tuesday, Sept. 30

Noon at Hickory Hill Conference Room, 3000 E. Belt Blvd.

Noon at Pine Camp Arts and Community Center, 4901 Old Brook Rd.

6 p.m. at Hickory Hill Conference Room, 3000 E. Belt Blvd.

6 p.m. at Pine Camp Arts and Community Center, 4901 Old Brook Rd.

Wednesday, Oct. 1

Noon at Forest Hill Park Stone House, 4100 Forest Hill Ave.

Noon at Byrd Park Roundhouse, 800 S. Davis Ave.

6 p.m. at Powhatan Community Center,  5051 Northampton St.

6 p.m., Randolph Community Center, 1415 Grayland Ave.

Thursday, Oct. 2

Noon at Humphrey Calder Community Center, 414 N. Thompson St.

6 p.m. at Bellemeade Community Center, 1800 Lynhaven Ave.

The meetings will last approximately one hour.
