Project Yoga Richmond will host a FREE hour-long, all-levels flow yoga class on the Belvedere (at the top of the Robins Sculpture Garden) at VMFA. Space is limited: please arrive 10 minutes early for check-in.

Jonny Z Festival

Celebrate the creative spirit here in Richmond during ART 180?s 5th Annual Jonny Z Festival, a fun, funky, FREE, fund-raising, kid-friendly event. The 200 block of Shield’s Avenue will be closed off for a party where families can enjoy a variety of children’s activities. Food will be available from local food carts and others.

The Bizarre Market vendors will be selling their DIY wares with 10% of the proceeds benefiting ART 180. Plus, there will be live music by local performers including Photosynthesizers and Josh Small, WRIR DJs, raffle drawings at just $1/ticket for great prizes (including a bike from Bunnyhop Bike Shop, gift certificates from Steady Sounds, Ellwood Thompson’s, Star-lite and more!), and commemorative T-shirts for sale (printed generously by Studio 23).

Support for the festival is provided by the Fan District Association, Fan Women’s Club, and contributions made in Jonny’s memory. The festival honors Jon Zanin’s legacy, celebrates his spirit, and promotes art, music, community and friendship. This is a street party to remember and we have a feeling this is going to be the BEST yet.

Haircuts for the SPCA with Patrick Lomantini

Join the Richmond SPCA for the second annual 50 State Tour with master stylist Patrick Lomantini. This year’s fundraiser will be at Circle Square Salon located at 305 North Robinson Street. Call Lisa Clarke, manager of community development at the Richmond SPCA, at 804-521-1318 to schedule an appointment between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 12. All haircut fees directly benefit the Richmond SPCA. For $20 or more men and women will have a basic haircut by Lomantini. Appointments will average 15 minutes.

The Ghost Light Party

The Ghost Light After Party is an open-mic celebration of Broadway show tunes inspired by the vibrant cabaret scene that thrives today in the West Village of Manhattan. Any & all lovers of musical theatre are invited to take the stage and croon a classic, belt out a tune of today or simply sit back, have a cocktail and enjoy! Hosted by Matt Shofner & Maggie Roop on select Sunday evenings at the Richmond Triangle Players Theatre, The Ghost Light After Party provides a fun and social environment for Richmond theatre artists and enthusiasts to come together and unwind after the curtains have closed. City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Quoit Club: Branch House Tour

Join the Quoit Club as we tour the Branch House, home of the Virginia Center for Architecture. Designed by architect John Russell Pope for prominent financier John Kerr Branch, the Branch House is a 27,000-sqare-foot residence featuring eleven levels; a chapel-like studio; and fireproofing by means of concrete floors and masonry walls. With its long gallery, great hall, commodious library and dining room on the main floor, the house, completed in 1919, provided ample space for displaying the Branches’ extensive collection of European tapestries, textiles, and furnishings. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served on site.
