Here are some helpful hints for the Carytown Watermelon Festival from the Carytown Merchants Association:

By now, you know it cannot truly be summer without the Carytown Watermelon Festival. Can you believe this is the 29th year? We wanted to remind you that the festival is happening Sunday August 5, from 10a-6pm.

With over 115,000 people attending, 200 vendors, 60 bands/musicians, you can already guess parking is an issue. Here are some “insider tips” for you.

1) park early – find a legal spot and stay there. it’s much easier to walk around Carytown anyway.

2) park in the decks in Carytown – there are decks that often go under utilized.

3) car pool or bike – find a friend and share the ride

4) use satellite lots – City Stadium is a good one, it’s only a few blocks away.
