Southside

A new community weblog has hit Richmond with a splash. Southside Richmond is wrapping its electronic arms around that swath of the city that takes you past the Forest Hill corridor and into the southern section of Richmond anchored by Chippenham Turnpike to the west, the James River to the east and Walmsley Boulevard to the south.

The coverage area of Southside Richmond may be the stretch of city most overlooked by Richmond’s political and business class, but as Chesterfield County continues to transform its eastern corridors along Jeff Davis Highway and Chippenham and I-95 the City of Richmond has an opportunity to partner to create some genuine synergy with the county.

While the success of Southside Richmond rides on the shoulders of its editor, Shennan Dean, it is another feather in the cap of one of Richmond’s most powerful people, community weblog catalyst John Murden. He’s now helped launch community sites for almost every section of Richmond.
