Sweet Spot in West Broad Village is helping to make the holiday season a little sweeter for those who serve our country abroad. The shop partnered with neighboring Pocahontas Middle School to set up a drop off location for Halloween candy donated from the shop’s campaign to collect the sweets to send to our troops overseas.

Together, the two entities collected over 550 lbs of candy.

“We were blown away by the participation of the kids and their willingness to give up their candy for the troops,” Sweet Spot co-owner Chrissy Triano said. “We are also including handwritten letters for the soldiers.”

Sweet Spot will package and send the candy to California, where it will then be sent to overseas troops as part of the Operation Gratitude project. The UPS store at Short Pump has offered a generous discount to help with the shipping costs.
