Photos: NASA’s Langley Research Center
A local photographer was given the opportunity to visit NASA’s famed Langley Research Center. Not only did he jump at the chance, but he brought his camera and recorder and brought back with him some stunning photos and a sound collage of his visit.
Over the last few months NASA has invited social media users to their centers around the country to help build support for the space program. I was one of the lucky 50 Twitter users selected to visit NASA’s Langley Research Center on November 8th. We were encouraged to document and share our experiences using Twitter (@pjsykes) as well more traditional methods.
The tour included visits to a massive aircraft hangar and a wind tunnel, lunch with astronaut Susan Kilrain, and a rare chance to see an Orion Drop Test. One of the best things about the visit was the enthusiasm the employees, even the highest ranking directors, had for their jobs at NASA. The following photos and sound collage will hopefully give you a taste of my NASA experience. To find future tweetups follow @NASAtweetup on Twitter.
