Individuals and families can also take part. It is an opportunity for area residents to clean out their closets and donate something they already have, but don’t use, to a good cause.

Saxon Shoes for the Needy benefits deserving area families through the programs of The Salvation Army ARC. All participating organizations and individuals can bring their shoe donations to either of Saxon Shoes’ locations, Short Pump or Spotsylvania, by December 24, 2011.

“At Saxon Shoes we believe that giving back to the community is a part of what we do,” says Gary Weiner, president of Saxon Shoes. “In September we donated hundreds of shoes to help underserved children start the school year with new shoes that fit. With this holiday version of Saxon Shoes for the Needy we reach out to the community to collect thousands of used, but useable shoes to benefit individuals in our area who are in need.”
