A local real estate firm based in Short Pump is taking a new approach to getting property information out to prospective tenants. Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer has adopted the use of Quick Response (QR) Codes as part of the marketing of available space at retail centers.

The QR Code is a two dimensional barcode that can be read by most smart phones utilizing a barcode reader application, a trend that has been gaining traction in the past year or two and that has been implemented by a number of retailers and other companies. Thalhimer is initially rolling out QR codes at retail centers given the frequent foot traffic associated with a retail location.

Once the QR Code is scanned, the consumer can view property details, asking rents, maps, floor plans, and easily recall contact information of the leasing agents or the property address. The customer has the benefit of instant access to the real estate information while on the property.

Thalhimer’s Research and Marketing Group has also incorporated QR codes into property flyers as well as marketing materials displayed at industry trade shows.

“Thalhimer embraces technology across our business processes,” Brad McGetrick, Thalhimer’s Director of Brokerage Services, said. “Using the QR Codes to provide detailed property information is an innovative use of technology in the commercial real estate industry.”
