The Henrico County Planning Commission heard two development cases affecting the Short Pump area at its regularly scheduled monthly public hearing last week. Among them was a proposed office and townhome development and a new substation for Dominion Virginia Power.

Bacova, LLC requested to conditionally rezone approximately 80 acres of land on the northwest corner of Bacova Drive and Pouncey Tract Road from Agricultural District to Office District zoning. The parcel is near Colonial Trail Elementary School and the west entrance of the Twin Hickory community.

The developer is proposing office uses, up to 135 single-family dwellings and 430 multi-family residential units. The land is currently rural and contains a single-family home and farmland.

Henrico Planning staff deferred the request to the October 13th meeting, which is open to public comment.

Dominion Virginia Power received recommended approval from the Board to build a power substation on just under five acres of land on the west side of Nuckols Road at Ford’s Country Lane and along the exit ramp from Interstate 295 to Nuckols Road northbound. The parcel is currently zoned Agricultural District. The case now goes to the Board of Supervisors for approval in October.
