Residential burglaries, occurring at various times, day and night, and in the vicinity of VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. There have been no injuries associated with the burglaries and the motives have all been property theft.

Subject: Crime Alert-Residential Burglaries

In compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery
Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus crime Statistics Act
of 1988, Virginia Commonwealth University is giving notice of
Residential Burglaries.

Reported Offense:

Residential burglaries, occurring at various times, day and night, and
in the vicinity of VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. There have been no
injuries associated with the burglaries and the motives have all been
property theft.

Suspects:

There are no suspect descriptions, police are investigating these
cases and working to identify suspects that are responsible for these
crimes.

Brief Description of Crime:

There has been an increase in residential burglaries over the past two
weeks in various locations throughout the City of Richmond and in the
VCU vicinity. There have been burglaries reported in Carver, Monroe
Ward, and the lower Fan.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a
threat to members and guests of the community.

VCU Police and Richmond Police are working together and have increased
patrol and officer visibility in the residential areas around campus.

Crime Prevention:

Always lock the doors and windows to your residence whether you are
home or away. Look out for your neighbors and report any suspicious
activity to police. Make sure entrances to your home are well lit. If
you do go out make it look as if someone is at home. Do not leave
items of value so that they are visible from outside of your home.
