Short Pump Shorts: New Hotel Owner, Swim Teams Advance & Mystery Burger Joint

The Hotel Sierra at Short Pump Town Center will soon have a new name. A number of properties owned by the hotel’s parent company, LodgeWorks, were acquired by Hyatt Hotels last week for $802 million in cash.

The Hotel Sierra at Short Pump Town Center will soon have a new name. A number of properties owned by the hotel’s parent company, LodgeWorks, were acquired by Hyatt Hotels last week for $802 million in cash.

As part of the deal, 16 hotels run under the Hotel Sierra name will become Hyatt Summerfield Suites hotels.

Area Swim Teams Advance to Richmond-Wide Competition

Two area swim teams, the Wellesley Whitecaps and Fox Hall Fins (both with a 5-0 season record) battle for the Greater Richmond Aquatic League (GRAL) West Division 2 title on Tuesday, July 19th at 6:00, at the Fox Hall pool.  More information can be found on the GRAL website.

Mystery Burger Joint Pops Up

As originally reported by Richmond BizSense, a new burger joint has sprung up in The Summit shopping center on West Broad Street between Gaskins and Cox Roads. The origins of the location, which is currently undergoing interior buildout, are unknown.

However, a license from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control shows a company under the name of SBC, Inc. has applied to serve beer and wine at the location.
