Off-Duty Henrico Police Officer Struck and Killed on John Rolfe Parkway

An afternoon accident has left left one person dead and another with injuries. Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle accident in the 2200 block of John Rolfe Parkway, near Ridgefield Parkway, involving a car and a motorcycle.

An afternoon accident has left one person dead and another with injuries. Emergency crews responded to a two vehicle accident in the 2200 block of John Rolfe Parkway, near Ridgefield Parkway, involving a car and a motorcycle.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling west on Ridgefield around 2:40 p.m. on July 12th when an SUV exited the John Rolfe Commons Shopping Center.

The motorcycle operated by Thomas P. Berry, Jr., an 8-year Henrico Police veteran, struck the side of the SUV. Berry was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the SUV was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police officials say the investigation of the accident is still ongoing.
