The Richmond Fire Department responded to a brush fire Saturday on Belle Isle.
According to Lt. Shawn Jones of the fire department, the was in an area where logs and driftwood collect on the island. No one had to be evacuated.
“The area where the fire was had rocks and water near by so no need for us to really worry about fire spread. It could have been a camp fire or just dry conditions,” he said. The cause is unknown.
