Petersburg music festival performs Grande Concert

The Petersburg Music Festival will present the Petersburg Festival Chorus in their Grande Concert on Saturday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Regional Arts Center, 132 N. Sycamore St. Admission for this event is $8.

The Chorus will present a variety of songs, including several from the 1940s and 1950s such as, “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “When I Fall In Love” and “Embraceable You.” They will also sing “Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree” made famous by the Andrews Sisters and “What a Wonderful World.” Accompanying the Chorus will be Bentley Cobb, a local independent musician and Sharon Larew, the Petersburg Festival Chorus pianist.

The men of the Petersburg Festival Chorus will be joined by members of Clover Hill High School’s River City Sound, an all male a cappella ensemble. In addition, solo performances will be sang by Lori Sturt and Leon Richardson.

The Petersburg Festival Chorus is the resident chorus of Richard Bland College, and students attending this school can earn credit towards their degree by performing with the Chorus.
