The Central Virginia Most Wanted project, a coalition of nine Metro Richmond law enforcement agencies and organizations, and Comcast recently announced the launch of Police Blotter ON DEMAND, a public service initiative that will give area residents the opportunity to help the police locate fugitives from justice and provide information or tips on persons in question.

Police Blotter ON DEMAND features regularly updated video profiles of individuals from the “Most Wanted” lists of the jurisdictions involved in the Central Virginia Most Wanted project, including the Richmond Police Department, Henrico County Division of Police, Chesterfield County Police Department, Goochland County Sheriff’s Office, Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Hopewell Bureau of Police, Petersburg Bureau of Police, Virginia Department of Corrections and Virginia State Police.

“Leveraging Comcast’s ON DEMAND technology, the Central Virginia Most Wanted project is able to reach and inform even more residents across Metro Richmond, enlisting their help in tracking down known criminals,” said David Stone, lieutenant for the Chesterfield County Police Department and coordinator of Central Virginia Most Wanted. “As law enforcement officers, we are committed to protecting our communities and keeping dangerous criminals off the streets, and with Police Blotter ON DEMAND, we hope to bring even more fugitives to justice.”

Comcast Digital Cable customers in Metro Richmond can view Police Blotter ON DEMAND video profiles any time of the day or night at no additional cost. The profiles include information on how viewers with knowledge about the profiled individuals can contact the police anonymously. To view Police Blotter ON DEMAND, Comcast Digital Cable customers can tune to Channel 1 on their Digital Cable lineup or press the ON DEMAND button on their remote control, then click on the “Get Local” section. Police Blotter ON DEMAND is available to Comcast Digital Cable customers, which comprise more than 80% of Comcast customers in Metro Richmond.

“Police Blotter ON DEMAND is another way Comcast is using technology to make a positive difference,” said Henry Pearl, area vice president for Comcast, Metro Richmond. “Comcast is uniquely qualified to offer this type of local video on demand programming, and we are using our advanced fiber network and our reach to assist the communities in which we live and work.”

The Central Virginia Most Wanted initiative was established in 2007 to provide the Metro Richmond area with a resource for finding information about fugitives across numerous police jurisdictions. The partnership with Comcast to offer Police Blotter ON DEMAND extends the reach of the program, offering another medium for delivering vital information on local criminals and how to help apprehend them.
