From the Petersburg Bureau of Police:

1) The police are looking for a suspect (”Dequan”) in a robbery at the Burger King on S. Crater Rd.;
2) The police apprehended a suspect (Mr. Prince, aka “Butch”) involving trespassing/burglary/etc.

1) On March 24, 2008 at 10:06 pm at 2730 S. Crater Road, units responded to Burger King for a robbery in progress. Police are searching for a black male known as “Dequan”. Suspect displayed handgun and removed an unknown amount of currency from the safe and cash registers.

2) On March 30, 2008 at approximately 10:16 pm, officers responded to 840 Bollingbrook St. in reference to tampering with speaker alarm activation. This location was the target of a break-in the day before, thus additional units answered the call as backup. Officers coordinated a strategized approach to the business and apprehended James Prince, also known as “Butch”.

The other suspect who was with Mr. Prince began to flee Northbound with Officer Lofton giving chase. The suspect was described by Officer Lofton as a B/M, 19-23 yoa, 5’9, 150-160, wearing all black.

The suspect was last seen headed North towards the River and a canvass of the area was unsuccessful.

Mr. Prince possessed a loaded 9mm, Ruger, Semiautomatic and crack cocaine smoking device.

Mr. Prince was held at Petersburg jail after being charged with Destruction of Property, Trespassing, Escape Attempt, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine and a Firearm, Possession of Burglary Tools, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Attempted Grand Larceny.
