Short Pump-based real estate brokerage Thalhimer is expanding its reach, establishing an office in Charlotte. Paul Silver, company president and CEO, said an opening for a Cushman affiliate in the Charlotte area was offered to them. Silver said the firm had been looking at the North Carolina market for a while.

“The whole North Carolina market is a very fertile area,” Silver said. “The opportunity came together at the right time.”

The Charlotte office opened after the first of the year. Silver said he had been down there several times over the past 60 days, lining up talent and finding office space.

The office has four associates and will add staff throughout the year.

“We have done business and known those associates for an extended period of time,” Silver said.

Silver also said they are developing an office in Raleigh, which they plan to open in the next couple of months.

The company has re-branded itself, emphasizing the firm’s alliance with global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield. The firm’s official name is now Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer. Along with the new name comes a new look: Thalhimer has dropped its yellow-and-blue color scheme in favor of red and white.
