Life at West Broad Village just got a little sweeter thanks to a new candy store that opened this past weekend. Sweet Spot, located on Old Brick Road next to the new Children’s Museum of Richmond’s satellite branch, is hoping to bring something unique to the Far West End with their new business concept.

Proprietors Sarah Solomon, Chrissy Triano and Kate Vernon say their goal is to offer a fresh option for high-quality candy and sweets in a modern, vibrant gathering place.

“This is our first venture into this type of business, but Kate, Sarah and I all have backgrounds and experience in business,” Triano said.

She says their store is unlike any other in Richmond because it combines a place to both purchase and enjoy candy and other sweets.

“Our store is a modern version of an old fashioned candy store. What makes it unique is it’s more than just a retail store– our goal is to create an experience where people can stay awhile and enjoy the store and everything in it.”

Triano says the decision to come to West Broad Village was both because of the developers’ vision for the mixed use center and the recent addition of the Children’s Museum.

“We like the concept of ‘live, work and play’ all in the same area and we are looking forward to being part of the neighborhood, and felt being in the same area as the Children’s Museum was a perfect fit for us.”

The shop stocks a variety of gourmet chocolates, nostalgic candy, frozen candy bars, hundreds of bulk candies, sweets without allergens, 50 kinds of bottled soda, and more. Visitors can play games like candy bingo, or Candyland in vintage or modern versions.

Sweet Spot is available for private events, for which candy buffets can be set up upon request.
